John K. Overchuck
Managing Attorney
When you choose me as your lawyer, you do just that, you get me as your lawyer. I will take your calls and be available whenever you need me, even on the weekends. You will have my personal e-mail that forwards to my cell phone so you will receive a response the same day. I have never had a client say, “I could not reach my lawyer when needed.” My office does not have an answering service. What does that mean? After hours, our calls are forwarded to our cell phones so no stranger will be taking your calls. I am the kind of lawyer that REALLY cares about his clients. I am a kind, good-natured person who will treat you with the respect you deserve. I am married to my beautiful wife, Natacha, who is a self-made woman herself. When I am not spending time with my family, I will be in my office working on YOUR CASE. You are my client but you are also my employer – I WORK FOR YOU. My goal is for you to be so pleased with me as your lawyer that you refer everyone you know that may need representation. I will do everything I can to make sure I will be the lawyer you turn to for the rest of your life.
Kathryn “Katie” Anderson
Personal Injury Attorney
Kathryn “Katie” Anderson began her legal career in 1992 in the Legal Studies program at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Upon graduation, she worked as a paralegal for a private firm that exclusively represented insurance companies in personal injury disputes. She also worked in the legal department for a major insurance company until she decided to attend law school at Barry University School of Law. During law school, Katie received the Gold Writing Award; served as Secretary of the Women Lawyers Association; was President of the Trial Team and led an ecumenical prayer ministry on campus. She also earned the distinction of being an editor on Law Review, an honor reserved for the top twenty percent of her class. For the first seven years after graduation, Katie worked exclusively for insurance companies and became well versed on the inner workings of insurance companies, successfully defending at-fault drivers at both the trial and appellate level.
Derek James
Personal Injury Attorney
Before joining the Overchuck Law Firm in 2022, Derek James was a partner of a statewide insurance defense firm where he was an accomplished advocate focused primarily on handling workers’ compensation litigation matters representing the interests of Employers, Carriers and Self-Insured Employers across the state of Florida for over twenty years. He established the firm’s presence in South Florida by opening and serving as managing partner of their Miami office beginning in 2013. Derek’s two decades of experience representing Florida industry gives him critical insight into how insurance carrier’s handle your work injury claims.
The purpose and intent of the workers compensation system is to provide for the swift delivery of benefits in exchange for immunity from civil suits which can take years to conclude often leaving you on your own sometimes without an income and without access to desperately needed medical care. Sadly many insurance carriers no longer keep their end of the bargain choosing instead to “delay, deny and defend” your legitimate claims for the benefits you deserve. These benefits are a lifeline to you and your family and Derek will work aggressively to hold insurance carriers accountable whenever they wrongfully deny your claims.
